“Wanting to write…

“Wanting to write without wanting to read is like wanting to use your imagination without wanting to know how.”

Powerful ending to a great read from about how reading is essential to the craft of writing. Check it out at The Consequences of Writing Without Reading. This lifelong lover of reading couldn’t agree more.

Bringing Back Flashback Friday

“To be a leader you must have a vision. It is a vision you must articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion. You cannot blow an uncertain trumpet.”
Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C.

Bringing back Flashback Friday with some wise words from Father Hesbrugh. president emeritus of Notre Dame and influential leader in education, religion, politics, and civil rights for the better part of the last 60 years.  I once held the door for him while walking into the library at Notre Dame, which fittingly bears his name.  It was quite the moment.

“It’s just life, so keep dancing through!” ~Wicked

One of my favorite lines from the musical Wicked.  And I’m sharing it on here because it is now stuck in my head after having a Wicked singalong with my much more vocally-talented sister as we did the dishes after dinner tonight.  And because I think it’s good advice for a Thursday. 🙂

Give the whole song a listen here.

“You need not be anxious…

“You need not be anxious if you do your best.”~St. Angela Merici, founder of the Ursuline Sisters

I like to remind myself of this quote when I am feeling overwhelmed or stressed, and I thought it would be a good one to share with all of you, in this busy month of December.  Whether it’s final exam stress, work stress, holiday stress, or just plain life stress, I  hope these words can offer similar inspiration to you.

“One cannot divine nor forecast the conditions that will make happiness; one only stumbles upon them by chance, in a lucky hour, at the world’s end somewhere, and holds fast to the days, as to fortune or fame.”~Willa Cather
